Question by Frederick: How do you repair self-esteem and feeling everyone will reject you?
Not sure how it happened, but my self-esteem is damaged. People seem to like me but in my head I feel strongly that they don’t or that they won’t once they know me a little more. Any help in this area is appreciated if you know someone this sounds like or have experienced it yourself.
Okay, but I’m not a stalker. I’m not sure how this applies.
Best answer:
Answer by blueorange I know for a fact that people don’t really like me. I hate stalkers above all people actually. I dont’ give a crap whether they are friendly stalkers or they are north korean terrorists spying on canadian citizens.
Just kidding, by the way.

How can I learn to gain self esteem and to think more confident?
Best answer:
Answer by NEIL B There’s so much out there that you could do but it dpends how you learn best. Coaching can be great as long as you find a good one.
As a starting point I’d read “Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway” by Susan Jeffers. Its a great book and one I’ve recommended to lots of friends.

Question by : What does it mean for one to have high or low self-esteem?
I just never really fully got a concept of high self-esteem and low self-esteem.
For example, what requires one to have low Self-esteem/high self-esteem?
Actual examples/scenarios/etc would help.

Question by Eric: How can I help improve my girlfriend’s self-esteem about her weight?
My girlfriend’s self-esteem has been low due to her weight, and I’d like to help her feel better about herself. I tell her she’s pretty, but her self-esteem is still low. Is there anything I can do to really help her with her self-esteem?
Another thing I should add is that this is a long-distance relationship. We couldn’t really go jogging together. I’d have to do things from afar to help her self-esteem.

Question by Sunny Days, Blue Skies: How is it possible to have low self-esteem yet come off as conceited to people?
I have the lowest self-esteem and confidence. But, people always think I’m conceited. It doesn’t make sense because I don’t think that highly of myself to be viewed as conceited. I just think it’s strange.
Best answer:
Answer by WiggleGiggleFit I have the same trouble.
I think, from my experience, it’s because when you’re not so confident – you don’t speak much, and to someone ignorant or who generally doesn’t pick up pointers about you – it comes off as “I’m better than you” sort of thing.
I get the same thing all the time, and it doesn’t help because I also tend to read books a lot, I tend to analyze songs and movies, and people, and I have a natural – thing – of picking out people’s traits and piecing them together like walking jigsaw puzzles.

I, Tina L. Croom-Pool, is a survivor of bullying. My story began in 1990, in the fifth grade. The bullies called me names, started fights, and constantly harassed me. The devastation continued into my sophomore year in college. With God’s love that triumphed failure, the bullies didn’t stand a chance of taking away my high self-esteem, dignity, and high honor. God assured a road to success, a week after graduating from college, with a chance to start a career at a children’s center as an accountant.
Question by PeaceLoveGreen: What’s the difference between having a high self-esteem and being vain?
I have a high self-esteem and all but I think I’ve taken it too far to the point where I’m just being plain stuck-up and vain.
Best answer:
Answer by Fernando I’m not completely sure, but high self esteem is just being confident in yourself in whatever you do.
Being stuck up or vain would be in how you express your “high self-esteem” to others. You could be in the “I’m better than the rest of you” mood = vain. Or in the “We’re pretty evenly matched, (even if you’re not) let’s give it our best shot” mood = high self esteem without being arrogant.
You can have self-esteem, but not brag about it, or think you’re better than others, or just be in a way that no one would like. Just keep things to yourself and keep your feet on the ground and you won’t be stuck up.
Question by Tenshi: What are some ways to promote self-esteem about your body?

Best answer:
Answer by nikkyjx3 Help her make small goals so she can change what she doesn’t like, like you can go walking with her, etc. And compliment her.

Question by aznyukigurl: What’s the difference between self-esteem, confidence, and pride?
I find self-esteem, confidence, and pride pretty similar.
What’s your definition of each?
And how do they relate to each other?
If a person is shy, which of these is that person lacking?
If a person thinks low of themselves, which of these is that person lacking?
And basically so on…
Question by In Honor of a Wonderful Man: How do you instill positive self-esteem in your child when you, as the parent, lack it?
I know I have poor self-esteem, if I am unable to learn how to have positive self-esteem, how am I to instill it in my children?
Best answer:
Answer by pdooma Encourage them and love them. I think it’s very easy to be critical and short when we have had a bad day (especially if we aren’t directing it at our child, but it comes out that way), and some kids are sensitive to that, and it slowly kills them. Speak gently, but firmly. Learn to laugh with your children. Being able to laugh at yourself, laugh at your mistakes is crucial. Teach your child it’s ok to make mistakes, that mistakes are how we learn, and we’ll do better next time.
Vague, I know, but that’s my guess.
