Having been hurt a number of times in a relationship i suddenly find myself in the same position as the person who has hurt me. Lacking self esteem and self confidence. Whats the best way of trying to build it back up when your still with the same person and can sometimes dwell on the negatives.

Realizing that you are amazing the way you are, despite your flaws. Focus on the beautiful things about yourself, whether physical or emotional. Every human being is beautiful in one way or another. Answer by Judy The most important thing to do is be honest with yourself and correct any behaviors and attitudes that are detrimental to yourself or others. Anything that you are uncomfortable with, as an example, “I’m so shy” that you want to overcome, start by saying in your mind the opposite of any behavior or attitude you want to change. Most of us that have self esteem problems are stuck in negative thinking patterns that prevent us from moving forward and growing into stronger individuals. The trick is to catch yourself thinking negatively, and immediately state in your mind the opposite even if your concious mind does not believe it. The truth is, your subconcious mind will believe anything you say to it, so the predominant thoughts in your mind will be how you tend to act. For example, if you tell yourself you are shy over and over, you will likely act very shy. You will look down at your shoes or someone else when you meet someone instead of standing straight and tall and looking someone right in the eye in a friendly and interested way. Each one of us is tremendously special and has been given unique and incredible gifts – the trick is to discover those gifts and use them to help ourselves and others in a positive way. That is our purpose – to learn and teach others and in doing so becoming stronger spiritually.

So, Im. I took a trip w 15 and my self esteem is really low. I have crooked teeth, and that makes it worse. I never smile in photo’s. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even go outside anymore. I took a trip with my grandma, and when she was about to take a picture, I accidently was smiling with my teeth showing and she said ” close your mouth”. It really hurt! I heard people say that if someone has a good self esteem and looks and acts confident, they will acctually be confident. I think I’m going to get braces in 3 months. I also have bad acne. How can I learn to be confident?? Also, how do i build my self esteem?? Any advice or tips will be appriciated! Thanks

Answer by yola_racing You can get braces & other braces like things to help correct your teeth. Most people at some point have to & now even more adults are now a days. As for the selfesteem that will come with time especially if you correct your teeth issue which may not be as bad as you think or even your grandma. I have several friends who have yellow teeth or bad breath or actually missing teeth & do fine not that I’m saying that those things are good. Part of it is what you think of yourself that affects what others think of you. Dont worry about your grandma & remember the teeth thing can be fix but it wont be over night but the sooner you try it the sooner it will be over & now it can be less then 2 years & you can have nice teeth. Obviously its not cheap but it is worth it…

Most of my life i haven been a really confident guy, nor have i had a lot of self esteem…..now that im becoming older im doing as much as possible to change that about myself. There will always be some people who think you should act differently than you do, all you can do is listen respectfully, then think of your own actions and see if they seem right to you, if not then try to change, but those people are just giving their opinion.

Answer by Jenny G When you hear or see someone putting you down just tell them “F**k you!” It’ll make you feel a lot better. Trust me. Try ignoring everybody else. If that doesn’t work get some outside help, like tell a teacher/parent/shrink..etc. My gf and I are always getting put down, especially by her parents and it’s hard. Just keep your chin up, as my grandma would say, and if someone still gives you sh*t…tell ‘em to “F**k off!”
